Camp “Ramram” - Marrakech, Morocco – A Moroccan Unit commenced its path towards NATO interoperability through the Operational Capabilities and Concept Evaluation and Feedback (OCC E&F) programme, a NATO evaluation programme, from November 23 to December 10, 2022.
The program was completed with the assistance from representatives from Joint Force Command Naples’s Military Partnership Branch, and supported by staff from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Georgia, Ireland, Serbia, and Sweden, who all joined a Moroccan evaluation team to conduct the Self Evaluation Level-1 (SEL-1) of the Moroccan 2nd Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 2nd Airborne Infantry Brigade.
The OCC E&F programme is specifically designed to assess the level of interoperability and military capability of partner units against NATO standards.
The 2nd (Airborne) Company is a unit in the Moroccan Army which had already participated in several domestic exercises and training. This experience allowed the unit to quickly learn and implement the NATO standards, which paved the road to a successful SEL-1.
By qualifying a substantial number of new OCC SEL-1 evaluator or database managers they were able to mitigate the COVID-related impact of the OCC E&F training.
Upon completion of this successful event, a graduation parade took place on 6 December at Camp “Ramram”.
The event was presided over by Brigadier General ANEJJAR, as Senior National Officer (Deputy of B3 at the Royal Armed Forces Headquarter in Rabat), accompanied by the Belgian Defense Attaché Lieutenant Colonel MADILE (NATO POC, Morocco) and by Lieutenant Colonel PIERSON (JFC Naples J9/MPB Branch Head).
This SEL-1 award is the first on the African Continent for a unit of this size and is a prime example of JFC Naples’s commitment to the Partnership Programme, which outlines the importance of this co-operation as part of the NATO Cooperative Security core task.
